As I begin to write this letter several things come to mind. I want you to know that I very much appreciate the people of Lakeview. We have come a long way in our ministry to the neighborhood, the community and those who society views as the “Least of These.” Matthew 25:40, “And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”
Who, we might ask, is the least of these? We might instinctivly think of the homeless or the near homeless. While that is certainly true in many cases, sometimes it might be each of these. We often feel afraid, lonely, angry, guilty or depressed. The church has a mission and that is to show love to those to whom love is a stranger. That’s why we do what we do. We are called to love one another, all the time That’s what I see in this church….a body of people who know how to love. Keep it up. Who knows the next person you meet might be Jesus.
